Guest Link Structure

Every published property gets a unique link that guests can use to access your guide. The link format depends on whether you've set a custom username.

Default Format

checkinguide.app/g/your-property-name

This format is used before you set a custom username.

With Custom Username

checkinguide.app/your-username/your-property-name

Set a username in Settings to get branded URLs for all your properties.

Pro Tip

Custom usernames make your links look more professional and memorable. For example: checkinguide.app/seaside-stays/beach-house

Your universal links

Alongside individual guide links you have three links that work for any guest, whichever property they are staying in:

checkinguide.app/your-username/portal

Your guest portal, where guests browse and buy add-ons such as early check-in.

checkinguide.app/your-username/verify/guests

Guest verification: ID, deposit and rental agreement. Copy it from the Overview tab of Guest Verify.

checkinguide.app/your-username/deposit

Deposit only, for when you just need a card hold and nothing else.

Customising Your Link

You can customise the property slug (the last part of the URL) to make it more descriptive or easier to remember.

1

Open Property Editor

Navigate to the property you want to edit and open the property editor.

2

Go to Settings Tab

Click on the Settings tab within the property editor.

3

Edit the URL Slug

Find the "Guest Link" or "URL Slug" field and enter your preferred URL.

Allowed characters: lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only. No spaces or special characters.

Pro Tip

Keep slugs short and descriptive. Examples: "beach-house", "city-apartment-1", "lakeside-cabin"

Pro Tip

Sharing Passcode-Protected Guides

If you've enabled passcode protection on a property, guests will be asked to enter the code before they can view the guide. Here's how to share effectively:

Include the passcode in your booking confirmation or pre-arrival messageGuests only need to enter the code once per device - it's rememberedSet expiry dates to automatically rotate codes between guests

Pro Tip

Learn more about setting up passcodes in Customising Guides → Passcode Protection.

PDF Download for Guests

When enabled, guests see a download button in your guide that generates a formatted PDF. This is useful for offline access or guests who prefer printed instructions.

Enable in property editor → Settings → PDF DownloadControl which sections are included via per-section togglesPDF is generated on-demand with your latest content

Embedding in Booking Platforms

The easiest way to share your guide is to include the link in your existing booking workflow:

Airbnb - Add to your house manual, check-in instructions, or scheduled messagesBooking.com - Include in your pre-arrival message templateVRBO - Add to your check-in instructions or welcome messageOther channels & PMS tools - Paste your guide link into any pre-arrival message, automated workflow, or scheduled email

Pro Tip

Your guide is just a link, so it drops straight into any booking platform or PMS that supports automated messages.

Publishing & Unpublishing

Control whether your guest guide is publicly accessible or hidden.

Published

Your guide is live and accessible to anyone with the link (or passcode if enabled). Guests can view all your content.

Unpublished

Your guide is hidden. Anyone visiting the link will see a "Guide not found" page.

How to Toggle Publishing

1

Open Property Editor

Navigate to the property you want to publish or unpublish.

2

Find the Published Toggle

Look for the "Published" toggle switch at the top of the property editor, near the property name.

3

Toggle On or Off

Click the toggle to publish (on) or unpublish (off) your guide. Changes take effect immediately.

Good to Know

Unpublishing a guide doesn't delete it. All your content, settings, and analytics are preserved. You can republish at any time. Your guest link URL stays the same.

Troubleshooting

  • Guide link showing 'Not Found' → Check that your guide is published (toggle is ON)
  • QR code won't scan → Print at least 3cm × 3cm and ensure good contrast
  • Changes not appearing for guests → Ask guests to refresh the page or clear browser cache
  • WhatsApp share not opening → Ensure WhatsApp is installed on your device
  • Passcode gate not appearing → Check that passcode is enabled and a code is set in property settings
  • PDF download button not showing → Enable PDF download in property editor settings
