What are Upsells?

Upsells let you offer paid add-ons to your guests. Things like early check-in, late checkout, grocery packs, birthday setups, champagne on arrival, and more. You create the products, set the prices, and share a portal link with your guests. When they purchase, the payment goes directly to your Stripe account.

Create Products

Build from 18 ready-made templates or create your own custom add-ons.

Share Your Portal

Send guests a branded portal link where they can browse and buy.

Track Revenue

See orders, revenue, and fulfilment status from your dashboard.

Getting Started

1

Connect Stripe

Go to Upsells and click the Stripe Connect card. Follow the OAuth flow to link your Stripe account. Payments from guests go directly to your connected account.

2

Create your first product

Click Add New Product in the Offers tab. You can start from a template (early check-in, late checkout, birthday setup, etc.) or create a fully custom product with your own title, description, price, and image.

3

Customise your portal branding

Click the Branding tab to set your portal logo, title, and welcome message. This is what guests see when they open your portal link.

4

Share your portal link

Copy your portal link from the top of the Upsells page and send it to guests in your booking messages, WhatsApp, or email. Guests can browse and purchase without creating an account.

Using Templates

CheckinGuide includes 18 ready-made upsell templates covering the most popular add-ons. Each template comes with a professional image, guest-facing description, and suggested price. You can use them as-is or customise every field.

Pro Tip

Templates are starting points. You should always review and adjust the price, description, and image to match what you actually offer at your property.

Managing Orders

When a guest purchases an add-on, the order appears in your Orders tab. Each order shows the guest's name, what they bought, the amount paid, and the current status.

View order details

Click on any order to see the full details including payment confirmation and guest contact information.

Mark as fulfilled

Once you have delivered the add-on (e.g. set up the birthday decorations), mark the order as fulfilled from the dashboard.

Requests that need your approval

Early check-in and late checkout depend on your cleaning schedule and the booking either side, so they are treated as requests, not instant confirmations. When a guest pays for one, the order arrives as Awaiting approval and the guest is told clearly that the time is subject to your confirmation.

Approve

The guest gets a confirmation email with the agreed time and the payment stays with you.

Decline

The guest is refunded in full automatically and told the time was not available. You can add a short note explaining why.

Pro Tip

Any product can be set to need approval when you create or edit it. Use it for anything you cannot always guarantee, such as parking spaces or hot tub setups.

Revenue Dashboard

The Revenue tab gives you an overview of your upsell earnings. You can see total revenue, number of orders, average order value, and which products are performing best.

Pro Tip

Revenue figures are based on completed payments only. Pending, awaiting-approval and failed payments are not included in the totals. A 1% platform fee per upsell sale is added to your monthly CheckinGuide invoice, so nothing is deducted from your own Stripe balance.

Troubleshooting

  • Guest says the portal link shows 'not found' → Make sure your property is published and your username is correct in the URL. If the guest is using an in-app browser (Instagram, TikTok), ask them to open the link in Safari or Chrome instead.
  • Stripe Connect button is not working → Try disconnecting and reconnecting your Stripe account. Make sure pop-ups are not blocked in your browser, as the Stripe OAuth window opens in a new tab.
  • Guest paid but the order is not showing → Check the Orders tab. It may take a few seconds for the payment to process. If it still does not appear, check your Stripe dashboard for the payment status.
  • Product images are not loading → Make sure the image file is under 5MB and in JPEG, PNG, or WebP format. Try re-uploading the image from the product edit screen.
  • I want to delete a product but it has existing orders → You can delete any product regardless of existing orders. The orders will remain in your order history and are not affected by deleting the product.
  • Revenue dashboard shows zero → Revenue only counts completed orders with successful payments. If you have only test or pending orders, the dashboard will show zero.
